Bilimbi fruit is known for its extreme sourness and delicious taste. It is a yellow-green fruit with a thin, soft skin and crunchy , juicy flesh. It has many uses; the leaves of Bilimbi are used as a treatment for venereal diseases. It is serve as paste on itches and irritations. The fruit can fight against cholesterol and used as tonic and laxative. Even the Bilimbi juice can be made into syrup and it can cure fever , hemorrhage, beri-beri and cough.

Bilimbi fruit is also used for food seasonings, preservatives, jams, pickles, and even candies. Yes, you read it right, “CANDIES”.

We used Bilimbi fruit as the main ingredient to come up with our own unique candy version.

Community Problem (Group II ABM 11-Active)

Bacacay is a 2nd class municipality in the Province of Albay, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 68 906 people. And it is politically subdivided into 56 Barangays.

Municipality of Bacacay encounters a lot of problem that can not be solved right now. The top three priorities of the municipality are Education, Jobs, and Health . Among those issue are the lack if meducal assisstance that the Government must take in action.

In order for you to understand , we made an infographics showing the result of the survey we conducted.

Proper Waste Disposal in Bacacay Public Market

Proper waste disposal is critical due to the fact that certain types of wastes can be hazardous and can contaminate the environment if not handled properly. These types of waste also have the potential to cause disease or get into water supplies. There are rules and regulations in place for how specific types of waste should be disposed of, we have chosen this problem in our community because it is one of the most important concern in our area that people have to know.

Based on the result of our suvey, only 53.33% of the respondents dispose their garbage properly, while the remaining 46.67% of the respondents does not.

Philippines is one of the most visited countries in the world. Many foreigners are attracted to visit our country not only because of its beautiful scenery, but also because of the hospitality and the flexibility of the Filipinos in communicating with them. Because of globalization, our language, cultures, and traditions became very diverse and we unknowingly forgot our natural/pure Filipino language while we use the modern and informal ones.

The language is the soul of every country, as it represents the identity of its citizens. Here are 10 uncommonly used Filipino words:

*Karsunsilyo- boxer shorts; undergarment typically worn by men.

Sentence: Ginamit ni Andrei ang bagong biling kansulsilyo sa kanya ng kanyang tiya.

*Pook-sapot- website; A place on the word wide web that contain information about a person, orgnizations, etc.,and that usually consist of many web pages joined by hyperlinks.

*Sulatroniko- email; a message distributed by electronic means from one computer user to one or more recipients via a network.

Sentence: Ipinadala ko na ang sulatroniko ko kay Angie.

*Labaha- razor; A sharp blade or combination of blades use to remove unwanted hair from face or body.

Sentence: Ginamit niya ang labaha sa pag-ahit ng kanyang balbas.

*Dupil- an amulet or anything that is believed to have the power to save a person who owns it from any harm.

Sentence: Ginamit ni Pedro ang dupil upang mailigtas ang kanyang kapatid sa kapahamakan.

*Anluwage-carpenter; A person who makes and repairs wooden objects or structures.

Uncommonly Used Filipino Words (Group II ABM 11-Active)

More than hundreds of language that the  Philippines (have). The Filipino is the national language of our beloved country. Everyday in our lives, we use this languages as the main medium of communication.

We use it in school, on our workplace, esoecially in our home. Some of us can speak fluently the Filipino language but sadly we forgot some of the words that made our history that we used to say in our daily living.

Our world is continously chaging, together with our vocabulary words, constantly growing and shifting the uncommonly used Filipino words and here are the examples of uncommonly used Filipino words:

1. Balintuna – Unbelievable / di-kapani-paniwala

Halimbawa:

– Isang balintunang ekspresryon ang nakapinta sa mukha ni Anna habang sinasabi ng kanyang kapatid na patay na ang kanyang alagang aso. Shock.jpg

2. Hatinig – Telephone / telepono

Halimbawa:

3.  Himaton – Clue

In our generation, a lot of words was invented by everyone. It is not bad to be part of the changing world but we should not forget the words, the uncommonly used words that made our history, since those had been forgotten and it molded us to become a better person.
